A new job opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Estimator to join our team based out of our offices in Inverness.
Key Responsibilities
- Acting as principal point of contact between March and customers throughout the bid process.
- Taking off quantities from a set of tender drawings.
- Issuing ITTs to MARCH supply chain and reviewing/assessing quotations.
- Building up rates using a computerised estimating software.
- Bringing innovation and value engineering to bids.
- Ensuring that estimates/bids are accurate and reflective of the project requirements.
- Ensuring the risk profile is in keeping with the Commercial Policy.
- Presenting the bid for tender adjudication and approval.
- Producing final tender documents for issue to customer.
- Ensure completion of contract documentation and support the Commercial team to undertake contract reviews and negotiations to align with governance requirements.
- Ensure all bonds and warranties are agreed in accordance with commercial and group procedures.
- Manage and monitor the contract terms and conditions along with contractual obligations
- Support the bidding process commercially
- Where new opportunities are identified to ensure each tender has the appropriate level of review and tender risk assessment
- Protect stakeholder interests through full use of the company governance framework during the tendering gateways
- Be influential in the maximisation of profit margins
Skills and Experience
- Team player
- Reading and understanding technical drawings and specifications
- Able to communicate clearly and expressively
- Skilled negotiator, with proven experience in a commercial environment
- Good organisational skills
- Capable of influencing within cross-functional teams
- Must have strong skills in a negotiating and deal closing environment
- PC Literate with knowledge of MS applications e.g. Word, Excel
Specific Qualifications
- Mechanical background in construction/engineering
- Educated to degree level or equivalent.
- Professional membership of a relevant organisation would be desirable
- A full driving licence in essential
